Video Assistant Referee (VAR) has been recently introduced to the Football Association. VAR is used by replaying the relevant incidents, and then the main referee would look at they replay and make the decision whether it's a penalty, a goal, a red card or a mistaken identity.

SpiderCam is a new technology that has recently been introduced into association football. When the winches unwind, it allows the camera to move around the pitch and permits it to record the match. The SpiderCam also has fiber optic cables in them that connects with the remote and allows the operator to take control of it. SpiderCam can be used in many sports other than association football, such as volleyball, tennis, rugby and cricket.
OPTA sports is a company located in the UK, where they analyse the stats of the players. Over 25 sports in 70 different countries are using OPTA to analyse the player’s stats. OPTA is also used in betting webpages and broadcasting.
Electronic Performance and Tracking Systems (EPTS) records the position of the players and the ball while they are on pitch. EPTS can also record the heart rate of the players, the level of stress, medical data and the physical state of the specific player.
In association football there is a specific referee for sub changes. These referees use a referee board to indicate the which player is going on the pitch and which one is going to be subbed. These referees can also use these board to indicate the extra time.
Foam Technology, also known as vanishing spray or vanishing foam, is like a temporary visual marker used by the referee during a game to indicate where the free-kick is taken or to indicate the distance for the wall to position from the ball when a direct free kick is taken.

Artificial pitches have been around for many years and has been used in many different sports other than association football such as rugby, tennis, hockey, cricket and many others. Nowadays we still use artificial grass to play sports, but we now will the artificial pitch with sand and little pieces of black rubber unlike many decades ago.
